Turn your SHOULDs into MUSTs

The other night, I was finishing my workout at the gym. I thought: “I should finish up this work out with a little cardio… “ but the truth is, I wasn’t really feeling it at the moment. I just kept thinking, “I should run after lifting weights, I know I should do that…” over and over in my head, with no real intent on actually doing it. As I was nearing the end of my workout, another SHOULD crossed my mind. All of a sudden, I remembered something Tony Robbins said when I saw him in Chicago: when you turn your SHOULDs into MUSTs, you’ll have a breakthrough.

I changed my thinking right then and there. I changed my self-talk. Instead of saying to myself, “I should go run,” I changed it to, “I MUST go run.” I ended my work out that day with a 10-minute run. After I finished up, I felt so good and proud of myself – I felt accomplished, I overcame mental obstacles and achieved something good for myself. It’s that little win, accomplished day after day, that will push you to raise the bar for yourself. Day after day, week after week, month after month. Before you know it, you’re a whole new person with a whole new attitude, ready to take on the world. Turn those SHOULDs into MUSTs, change your attitude and watch your reality change for the better.
