Keep Momentum Alive as a Business Owner

When you own and run your own business, there are so many positive aspects. You’re in charge of your own time, make your own schedule and work solely for your own profit. However, being a business owner has its downside. If you’re not busy marketing your business and bringing in new customers, you’re not making any money. Often, you don’t work a 9-to-5 shift, then go home, call it a day and forget about your job until the next day. Maybe you work a few hours in the morning, take a break and return to your business in the evening. You never get a traditional break from your job – as a business owner, it follows you around all day. So when the weekend does come, it feels oh-so-good to take a break from the business for a moment.

What happens when Monday comes back around and you don’t feel like diving back into work? As a business owner or entrepreneur, you probably can’t afford to suffer from the Monday blues. You need to be present Monday morning, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, ready to take on the week once again. This is especially true if you have employees; you’ll need to be their Monday motivation and lead by example. If you’re dragging on Monday morning and really can’t get yourself into the full swing of things until Tuesday or Wednesday, neither will your employees. They won’t be able to pick up your slack in the beginning of the week and you can’t afford to have any slack.

The best way to keep up your momentum from one week to the next is by doing some type of work over the weekend. By doing something work-related over the weekend, you maintain your mindset. This way, you don’t have to start totally from scratch when Monday rolls around, which leads to higher rates of productivity at the beginning of each new week. It’s important to rest, relax and take time for yourself, of course, but if you can manage to get an hour or two in of work on Saturday and Sunday, you’ll be all the better for it once Monday rolls around.
